Student London Riots Reports

The images used within the report show a shameful mugging; which presents the idea of the riots being an excuse for violent thuggery, with innocent people being victimised during the event. Although presented as a foul drawback of the riot, the Cameron interview does not directly blame youths and youth culture itself, instead relating to society as a whole. Youths are not given a fair say in this as there is no reference to youth opinion on the matter, which may be sympathetic.

This report shows little violence, presenting the youth involved as much less violent that normally suggested in rivalling reports. This clip shows the youth culture presented in a different light, giving the idea that instead of being mindless thugs they rioters actually were fighting for a just cause. Youths are given a fair chance to express their opinion as a clip is shown that shows a youth expressing a very justified opinion.

Although no direct links are made to youths throughout the report, the idea of the riots is portrayed in a largely negative light presenting wide destruction and a police interview that suggests the riots have no justified cause. No youth voice in presented in this report, with no real reference to why the riots existed.

Similar to the above report, violence and disturbing images is a heavy focus of the coverage. However, more emphasis on police control is used in this report.
